Crude oil tanker. Section of the hull of a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) being built in a dry dock. This ship will be a third of a kilometre long (approximately 330 metres) when finished. A tanker's size is measured in deadweight metric tons (DWT). Crude oil carriers are among the largest tankers, with ultra-large crude carriers (ULCCs) reaching over 440,000 deadweight metric tons (DWT).
