The ancient city of Thera on Santorini


The city of ancient Thera stands 369 metres high on the Mesa Vouno rock overlooking the Aegean sea and provided a good fortification for the Lacedaemonian colonisers of the 9th century BC The city is 800 metres long and only 150 metres wide due to the shape of the Mesa Vouno rock Photo taken in September 2005
