Cervical intervertebral disc implant. Coloured lateral X-ray of the cervical (neck) spine of a 38-year-old woman, showing the presence of an implant (white) following an operation to repair a slipped (herniated) intervertebral disc. This was a herniation of the disc between the C5 and C6 vertebrae, which was treated with the implantation of a Mobi-C artificial disc. Slipped discs can lead to the herniated tissue pressing on the spinal cord, causing severe pain and other neurological symptoms.
