From left to right: William Allen Miller (1817-1870), William Thomas Brande (1788-1866), Michael Faraday (1791-1867), William Robert Grove (1811-1896) and Thomas Graham (1805-1869). All five chemists were elected Fellow of the Royal Society. The dedication is by English photographer John Jabez Edwin Mayall (1813-1901).
