Malieveld, The Hague, The Netherlands. Wednesday 7th July 2021. Farmers’ action groups protested today against the government’s nitrogen policy and this was one of numerous events stages throughout The Netherlands. In addition to the former, certain parties would also would like to see the reduction in livestock; as the ‘RIVM’ has calculated of that half of the (N2) emission is due livestock. The government aims to significantly reduce nitrogen emissions from agriculture in the coming years. A number of MP’s came to address the farmers and one in particular received more than a friendly welcome; Tjeerd de Groot of the D66 party was more or less booed off stage, as he was heckled with abuse and the deafening sound of air-horn from tractors as he attempted to talk to the protesters. It was estimated that at least 300 tractors were present on the Malieveld and does not encloud the number not permitted to join the main group.
