Among the interesting exhibits at present under con-sideration are the four scenes designed for the recent produc-tion of the Canterbury Pilgrims at the MetropolitanOpera House, by Homer E. Emens, particularly that show-ing the west front of Canterbury Cathedral. Although em-bodying a considerable amount of small detail, this achievesa fine simplicity of composition owing to the simple rectan-gular form of the lower portion of the Cathedral fa9ade withits rich spot of color in the center doorway, which, if weimagine the stage occupied by a group of brightly costumedfigures, serves to enhance the color interest near the centerof
