This comet was discovered on 21 September 2012 by the International Scientific Optical Network (ISON). ISON will reach its closet approach to the Sun (perihelion) on 28th November 2013. As it approaches the Sun it will brighten, and could become visible by the naked eye, even during the day. Image obtained on 15th November 2013 by the TRAPPIST (TRAnsiting Planets and PlanetesImals Small Telescope) telescope at the ESO's La Silla Observatory in Chile.
