Mute Swan (Cygnus olor) family. Front bird wing foot stretching, is of the Polish phase; leucistic, lacking melanin pigment.


Mute Swans (Cygnus olor), on a Norfolk Broadland drainage dyke. One of a surviving brood of three cygnets leads family group. This is a white plumaged, leucistic, or ‘Polish’ colour phase. Adult parent behind. Note pink colour of foot under the stretching wing of the Polish bird.
