A Magellanic Penguin peering out from summer gorse


The Magellanic penguin is a breeding migrant on the Falkland Islands. It lives in burrows. It is 71 cm long and stands 35-38 cm in height. Eggs are laid in mid October and incubated for 38-41 days. The chicks fledge in January.
