A street fight outside Moray House in the Canongate, Edinburgh shortly after it was built in 1625. King James I supposedly remarked on the Scots fondness for a fight. At the time the Canongate with open spaces was a popular place for an aristocratic townhouse. In 1643 the house passed to the Countess of Moray and the building adopted the name it still has today.
