Australian Black Swan, (Cygnus atratus). A pair of nesting Australian Black Swans who have taken sanctuary at the world famous Abbotsbury Swannery in Dorset, Not native to Britain, they will have escaped from a zoo or private bird collection in the UK. The black swan breeds mainly in the southeast and southwest regions of Australia. They are monogamous breeders that share incubation duties and cygnet rearing between the sexes. Black swans are popular in zoological gardens and private bird collections, escapees are sometimes seen outside their natural range,
