Nothing can equal these in gorgeous effect, and, whether planted singly or in masses, their large flowers, rich brilliant colors and freedom of bloom render them conspicuous in any position. The plants form tufts of fern-like foliage, from amongst which the slender flower-stalks rise to about a foot in height, and bear elegant cup- shaped flowers. The profusion of blooms which they produce is really astonishing, often a hundred i3ower stems on a single plant, and they are pro- duced from the beginning of June to October. (See cut.)
