Communications satellite testing. Sirius 2 communications satellite being prepared for testing in an anechoic chamber. This chamber reduces echoes of the broadcasting signals being tested here. Sirius 2 was launched in 1997. It broadcasts two sets of signals. One beam covers northern Europe, while the other beam covers central and southern Europe. It was renamed Astra 5A in in 2008, and its mission ended in January 2009 after the satellite failed.
