Rescued orphan orangutan (Pongo pygmaeus) at the Orangutan Care Center and Quarantine (OCCQ) facility
The OCCQ, located near Tanjung Putting National Park, cares for confiscated ex-captive orangutans, sick, injured and rescued animals. They are given forest play and training sessions and prepared for release into the wild when they are old enough and suitable habitat can be found. It is a joint program of Orangutan Foundation International and the Indonesian Forestry Department.
