Poyang Lake, China, satellite image
Satellite image of Poyang Lake, China's largest freshwater lake during a drought. The lake was drained by a prolonged heatwave during what would have usually been the rainy season. The emptying of Poyang Lake has affected farming, irrigation, shipping and drinking water for nearby communities. Image obtained by the Operational Land Imager (OLI) on the Landsat 8 satellite on the 27th of August 2022. Please see image C056/6432, for an image of the lake taken on the 10th of July 2022.
