Human pineal gland, light micrograph

Light micrograph of the boundary between the pineal parenchyma and the white matter of the habenular commissure. As can be seen, there is no structure separating these two elements, but both continue one with the other. It should be noted that both have the same embryological origin from the neuroectoderm of the neural tube. Calcium concretions appear either in the pineal gland and in the commissure.
