17/06/21 Lit by evening sunshine, tractor drivers from Naylor Agricultural Contractors rush to get the last of the grass cut, collected and tipped into a silage pit in Bradbourne, in the Derbyshire Peak District, ahead of forecast thunderstorms. Silage, a winter feed for cattle, is made by packing the chopped crop into a pit and packing it down well so that any oxygen pockets are eliminated. Oxygen pockets spoil the feed. Plastic sheeting and tyres are often used to cover the silage pit. All Rights Reserved: F Stop Press Ltd. +44 (0)7765 242650
