Snow- ball Tree) — A well-known, favorite shrub, of large size, with globular clusters of pure white, sterile flowers, the latter part of May. V. PLICATUM (Plicate Viburnum)—From Xorth China. Of moderate growth: handsome, plicated leaves, globular heads of pure white neutral flowers early in June. It surpasses the com- mon variety in several respects. Its habit is better, foliage much hand- somer, flowers whiter, and more deli- cate. One of the most valuble flow ering shrubs. Spirea. C ALLOSA Alba—A white flowering variety of dwarf habit; very fine : remains in flower all summer, Goldex-Leaved (Foliis Aureis i—A beau- tiful dwarf plant, vrith golden-yellow foliage. Its keeps its color the'entire season, and creates a very pleasing effect among other shrubs. ' PRrxiEOLiA FLORE PLEXO—A beautiful shrub from Japan, with double-white flowers in May. Eeevesii. or Laxce-Leaved—A charming shrub, with narrow-pointed leaves, and large, round clusters of white flowers, that cover the whole plant. Double Laxced-Leaved—A beautiful double-flowering variety. One of the best. Thuxbergii (Thuxbero's SPiR^Aj—Of dwarf habit, and rounded, graceful form; . branches slender and somewhat drooping : foliage narrow and yellowish-green; flowers small, white, appearing early in spring, being the first Spirea to flower. Esteemed on account of its neat, graceful habit. Forces well in ^vinter. Tax Houtte's (S. Van Houttei i—The most showy of all the Spireas. and one of the very best flowering shrubs in cultivation. The plant is a rather tall, upright grower, with long, slender branches that droop gracefully with their weight
