First Class Dan Calderon, Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) team member, investigates subsurface metal contacts with a predator tool and pin-pointer at Erima, Rai Coast District, Madang Province, Papua New Guinea, Oct. 4, 2022. The investigation team visited multiple areas across the coastal Madang Province in hopes of recovering missing service members lost during World War II. DPAA’s mission is to achieve the fullest possible accounting for missing and unaccounted-for personnel to their families and the nation.
