Transformed into Fray Rodrigode la Cruz, he gave extraordinary impetus to theinstitution, and, when the King, Don Carlos II.,rewarded his services in Costa Rica with thetitle of Marquis of Talamanca, he preferred thetonsure to the trefoiled crown.
