The snow-bound Teri La (5560m), a pass in of the remote Damodar Himal in the Mustang region of Nepal

Mustang formerly the Kingdom of Lo, is a remote and isolated region of the Nepalese Himalayas Upper Mustang was a restricted demilitarized area until 1992 which makes it one of the most preserved regions in the world, with a majority of the population still speaking traditional Tibetan languages whilst Tibetan culture has been preserved by the relative isolation of the region from the outside world. Life in Mustang revolves around tourism, agriculture and trade Photo shows views of the high arid mountains of upper Mustang on the route of the 5560 mtr Teri La Pass which was first ‘discovered’ by Bill Tilman in the 1950’s from the summit of which can be seen views of the Annapurna range and the arid Tibetan plateau
