Natives of Guatemala who obtain theirtitle in foreign countries may be incorpo-rated in the faculty by a simple resolutionof the executive board; but, notwithstand-ing this, the board has in contemplationthe reform of this regulation to the extentof requiring from those who may desire tobe incorporated, the Degree of Science andLetters or its equivalent. 4S. / Magazine III), ) ( A:\ii i:\ oi- IHK COLORADOFrom a painting by Thomas Moran The State of Dentistry in Italy By Dr. Vincrnzo Guerini HE State of dentistry inItaly is still unsatisfac-tory, chiefly owing to thefact that up to a fewyears ago there were nospecial schools for theteaching of the dental was o r d a i n e d byroyal decree, April 24,1890, that thenceforward all those intend-ing to practice dentistry must be graduatesof medicine. Of course, this did not affectthe standing of those who were practicingdentistry prior to that date. In consequence of this decree, a greatnumber of medical men took up the dentalprofession, but in general with too briefand quite insufficient preparation, madeafter the conclusion of their medicalstudies. The medical course in Italy cov-ers a period of six years and is usuallycompleted at about the age of 25, but thedental specialty is not included therein. The decree was evidently made
