J.,.<i( es/.: I advise and recommend the front position. Pleasenotice and study carefully every detail in the illustra-tions. The illustrations show both front and side particular attention to position at first until youhave formed the habit of assuming an easy, natural andgraceful position. Do not place the chair loo far underthe desk. Sit well back in the seat of the chair and leanforward a little, but not so far that the body willtouch the desk. Keep both feet flat on the floor in frontof the chair. iltlo ot I The forearms should rest on the desk nearly at rightangles to each other, and the right hand should comejust a little to the right of directly in front of the body, just far enough out so that the elbow will not come onthe desk. The elbow of the left forearm can be placedon the desk, and the fingers of the hand should be a lit-. tle above the pen, the thumb of the hand below the penor writing line. You should keep the fingers ot the left hand close toyour writing, and hold the paper firmly with this hand, and if you use a blotter under the right hand you shouldhold the blotter with the thumb. Be careful that you do not support any weight on theright arm other than the weight of the arm itself. Thearm should rest lightly if you wish to get a tree andelastic movement. Do not move the arm back in writ-ing down the page, but move paper from you, rusilliin of Iti/ier. Place the paper on the desk so that by assuming theposition of the right forearm the pen will come at theleft side at the top of paper, and the arm will come inthe center at the lower edge. Move paper to the left, but do not raise the arm and move it more than once inwriting across the page. Holiler. Place the holder between Ihe thumb, first and secondfingers.
