Nurseries (Horticulture) Maryland Showell Catalogs; Nursery stock Maryland Showell Catalogs; Strawberries Varieties Maryland Showell Catalogs. C. S. Perdue's Strawberry Plant PROGRESSIVE. (Fall Bearing.) The very best of all fall bearing varieties, leading them all on account of its good yielding qualities. They should be set out in good rich soil and given good applications of manure. They will bear a few weeks after plants are set and con- tinue to bear until freezing weather. They are hoed, fertilized and cultivated just as other varieties. It will pay you to plant Pro- gressive everbearers and enjoy some of the best strawberries you ever ate. Note clipping from farm and Home of Aug., 1921: **Small Bed Worth While. I bought 100 everbearing strawberry plants last spring and as soon asjfrost was out of the ground I set them two by three feet apart, first having the ground well spaded and heavily dressed. I planted each plant so the roots were well spread out and I raised every one. As I clean- ed the hen house I put the hen dressing be- tween each root. I kept all buds and blossoms picked off until July 1st and in about six weeks I was picking ripe berries; the last I was Sept. 28th, when I picked enough to fill six sauce dishes. For $, the amount I paid out, I feel well repaid for the berries I re- ceived. Mrs. James E. Bunnell, Maine.''.
