Sun shade portrait, to Potato Wharf, tubular steel Great Northern Viaduct crossing water Castlefield Canal Basin, Manchester, UK

Four historic railway viaducts cross Manchester's Castlefield Canal Basin. The 1894 tubular steel Great Northern Viaduct (seen here) lies next to the red bricks of the 1877 Cornbrook Viaduct, which crosses the canal water by way of a wrought iron truss girder structure. The Great Northern Viaduct is disused. The Cornbrook Viaduct, deemed to be in better condition than the Great Northern, was chosen for refurbishment in 1990-91 and is currently used by Metrolink trams going to Altrincham. Portrait shot across the canal basin to developments at Potato Wharf.
