Detroit, Michigan - Public employees protest Michigan Governor Rick Snyder's appointment of an emergency manager to take control of the city of Detroit. Many dressed as "nerds," wearing suspenders and pocket protectors in a parody of Snyder's self-description as "one tough nerd." Most of the protesters were members of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, attending the union's "Next Wave" conference for young union activists.
