MUECATE FOREST RESERVE, NEAR NAMPULA, MOZAMBIQUE, May 2010: Licensed charcoal makers, working inside the forest reserve, prepare a large kiln. Clumps of soil are laid over the kiln to exclude air from the burning process. This kiln, built to a traditional design, will burn for a month, when set on fire.
