The Painter and the Buyer painted by the Dutch Renaissance sketched Pieter Breughel the Elder in 1566. It is thought to be a self-portrait of the artist. Breughel was the most important painter of the Dutch and Flemish Renaissance. His choice of subjects was influential, he rejected portraits and religious scenes in favour of local and peasant scenes.
