Prior to this controversy, muchconfusion of ideas respecting many points of evangelical doctrineprevailed, and incautious expressions respecting them were foundin many of the best writings, and the most serious pulpit discoursesin this country. At that time, and by the means now mentioned,they were placed in a more clear, distinct, and evangelical light,than perhaps they had ever been since the days of the us bless God for the care he has thus manifested with regardto the truths of the gospel, and the interest of religion as connectedwith them.
