Alden Davis, florist at Forest park, delivered an in- teresting address, with stereopticon il- lustrations, at a recent meeting of the Springfield Amateur Horticultural So- ciety, in Blake hall. His subject was landscape gardening, with special ref- erence to the work of the competitors in last year's gardening contest. Presi- dent A. J. Griffin was in the chair. Syracuse, N. Y.—At a recent meeting of the Market Growers' Association of Central New York, with President Ed- ward Arnts in the chair, an advisory board was appointed and was instructed to name committees which will work for the improvement of conditions af- fecting the gardeners' business. One of the objects in view is an investiga- tion of the factors that control the markets. Pekin, 111.—Geo. A. Kuhl had a wed- ding recently and used the muff for the bride to carry, which proved to be effective. In contrast to that, the bridesmaids' bouquets were made of pink sweet peas with long streamers of chiffon. The bower was made of south- ern huckleberry and decorated with marguerites; also a large bell of mar- guerites hung from the center of the bower, with a background of palms and ferns.
