Koekamp, The Hague, The Netherlands. Saturday 16th November, 2019. A peaceful protect this afternoon took place in The Hague and a large police presents kept any trouble seekers at bay. The (KOZP) “Kick Out Zwarte Piet” movement held a protest to coincide with the arrival of Sinterklaas and his blackface helper Zwarte Piet to Scheveningen and The Hague. People of colour in The Netherlands regard his presents in the festive season as grossly offensive so, those celebrating his arrival, those protesting his arrival and those protecting a Dutch tradition dating back to 1850 were kept well apart.
