A huge panoramic landscape image taken in infra red The model has been left in muted infra-red colours while the background has been converted to black and white Taken in the coniferous woodlands of the Kathmandu valley in Nepal in 2006 The Asian model wears an Indian sari and has flowers in her hair The infrared technique gives the image a surreal quality with vegetation becoming a ghostly white and skies darkened She stands on the ground amongst the tree trunks in the far right of the image looking down to the ground Dappled shade as light and shadow play all around her gives a romantic feel and the style is reminiscent of nineteenth century Victorian pre Raphaelite artists such as Rossetti perhaps a sentimental fairy-tale princess waiting for a chivalrous prince charming The woman is 30 years old and youthful in appearance and could easily pass for a twenty or thirty something Perhaps she is a lonely valentine waiting alone in a mystical magical enchanted forest for a valiant man to rescue her The grainy nature of IR is reduced in this image because it is a composite of seven separate pictures stitched together seamlessly with software
