Shell perforate, subglobosely depressed, thin, finely striated,decussated above with impressed spiral lines, polished below, palehorny, encircled by two rufous lines (one or both sometimeswanting), with a whitish band between them, the upper linecontinued inside the suture on the upper whorls ; spire low,convex; whorls 4J, nearly flat, rapidly increasing, the last notdescending, convex beneath; aperture large, oblique, Innatelyovate; peristome thin, with the columellar margin slightly reflected. I found this shell asfar north as the Gadavari at Dumagudiam, but I have seenno specimens from the Malabar coastland. Large specimensup to 40 mm. in size have been obtained on the Shevroy Hills byMr. J. E. Henderson.
