Drill instructors bow their heads while listening to a prayer during a memorial service for Sgt. Michael A. Tooley at Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, Aug. 24. Tooley was born August 7, 1987 in Suffolk, Va., and enlisted with the Marine Corps on Aug. 22, 2005. He deployed to the Philippines, Iraq and Afghanistan as a combat engineer. His personal awards include the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon.
