In landscape with trees & beneath domed pavilion adorned with floral swags & circlet of flowers, seated Empress raises her hand to take cup of tea being poured by servant standing next to table bearing large ewer & assortment of glass & ceramics vessels (R); 1 servant holds parasol above Empress, another kneels offering basket of fruit (BRD) picture-frame border with stylized acanthus leaves Initially, famous commissions of this series took place with, notably, 1 set ordered by the duc du Maine & another by his brother the comte de Toulouse; subsequent anonymous commissions followed well into the 18th century. This panel was probably from 1 of these later commissions.
