1890 photogravure of a Thomas Allen painting with the caption Thoroughbreds Thomas Allen, Jr. (1849-1924) Born St. Louis, Missouri. Died Boston, Massachusetts. Thomas Allen, Jr. was the son of Thomas and Ann A. (Russell) Allen. He studied at the Royal Academy of Dusseldorf, Germany, and in France, Holland and England. He married in1880 to Eleanor G. Whitney and in 1889 he married Alice Ranney. Allen exhibited several times in the Paris Salon and he appears in most all of the prominent annual exhibits in the He received a silver medal in Boston and bronze medal at Pan American Exposition. He was a member of the international Juries of Chicago World’s Fair in 1893, and president of the Louisiana Purchase Exposition in 1904.
