View S of the remains of Llanthony Augustinian priory & the Vale of Ewyas (Ewias) in the Black Mountains, Monmouthshire, Wales, UK. Established by 1108, the priory formally became a house for Augustinian canons around 1118. The remains date mainly from 1180-1260; the priory was suppressed on 10 March 1538. J. M. W. Turner sketched the priory in 1792, producing several watercolours in 1794-95. The priory lies in the E part of the Brecon Beacons National Park.
