Haematoma (internal bleeding) on the elbow of a 73-year-old man following a fall, while on an anticoagulant drug. The discolouration is where blood has clotted after internal bleeding from broken blood vessels. The patient was on the drug rivaroxaban, a direct-acting oral anticoagulant (DOAC). This drug thins the blood, making internal bleeding more likely following a fall.
