An early portrait of actor-manager An early portrait of actor-manager Sir Herbert Draper Beerbohm Tree (1852-1917) dressed as a cavalier. He often playing leading roles with his wife, actress Helen Maud Holt playing opposite him and assisting him with theatre management. He founded the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1904 and was knighted, for his contributions to theatre, five years later.
