Putnam in theownership of the Artists Edition of WashingtonIrvings Sketch Book, and the Rebellion Record,and in 1866 he became a member of the firm ofLeypolt & Holt. That concern was succeeded in1873 by Henry Holt & Company. Three yearslater Charles Holt (Yale 1865), a brother of Henry,was admitted to the firm. Mr. Holt has served as aTrustee of the New York Geographical Society, theUniversity Settlement Society, and the Yale, Cityand LTniversity Clubs, having also been the firstChairman of the latter organizations Library Com-. HENKV llDLr mittee, and lately recalled to that body to assist inrearranging the library in the new club-house. Hewas the first Chairman of the University SettlementSociety ; and is a member of numerous scientific,art and literary societies, Sons of the AmericanRevolution and the Century Club.
