This image may not be used to state or imply ESA endorsement of any company or product ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter at Mars, illustration. The TGO (Trace Gas Orbiter) is a probe under development by the European Space Agency (ESA) and the Russian Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) as part of the ESA's ExoMars mission. It will be launched in 2016 with Schiaparelli, the entry, descent and landing demonstrator module. TGO will remain in orbit, searching for evidence of methane and other atmospheric gases that could be signatures of active biological or geological processes on Mars. TGO will also serve as a communications relay for a rover and surface science platform (the ExoMars rover) that will be launched in 2018.
