Fossil dinosaur footprint research. British palaeontologist Martin Gaudin Lockley (born 1950), measuring a fossil dinosaur footprint. Lockley studied for his doctorate at Birmingham University in the UK. He worked as a professor of geology at the University of Colorado Denver, USA, from 1980 to 2010, specialising in dinosaur tracks. Trace fossils (ichnofossils) have their own taxonomy. This fossil footprint is that of an unknown dinosaur. It was discovered at a palaeontological site in the region of Porrentruy, Switzerland. Photographed in August 2010.
