Gbderedou Baranama, Guinea, 2nd May 2015; This village and local area will be flooded by the dam. Hunters, left to right: Bakary Conde Takoura, Moussa Takora Conde, Odia Alaman Conde, Fode Conde, Namandjam Conde, Mamady Conde. “We hunt in the forest every day. Sometimes we catch rabbit, partridge, guinea fowl, squirrel, agouti, roe deer and other wild game. Before there were plenty of animals to catch but now it is much more difficult to find game. In fact there are too many hunters in the area. There is an area of protected forest where we cannot hunt, and we don’t shoot young or pregnant animals. It’s up to God to solve this problem. We’ve heard about the dam and we are praying that the water will not reach here or we can still stay close to here after the dam is built.”
