A unique overhead mechanical repeater signal at Worcester Railway Station, UK
Worcester Shrub Hill railway station is one of two railway stations serving the city of Worcester in Worcestershire, England. In 2022 it was one of the few areas on the British Railways system retaining a system of mechanical signaling. The signalman, or signaler, moves the semaphore arms banner signals and points by a system of wires and pulleys with electrical detection. The system, introduced in the Victorian era, has proved to be safe and reliable, although now mostly replaced by electronic systems.
