The site selectedfor their intended house of worship was on the eastside of Washington Street, a short distance south of theTrinitarian Church. The corner stone was laid, , 1827, and the dedication took place, Jan. 30, Mr. Ware preached on this occasion, from Johnxvii, 17, the same text which Rev. Mr. Knowles hadtaken at Mr. Malcoms installation, a few days the 21st of May, Rev. Mellish Irving Motte wasinstalled as pastor of the Society. Rev. Dr. Channingpreached on the occasion. It is a large and commodious house, containing 124pews on the floor, and 42 in the galleries. Its appear-ance is neat; the ceiling is flat, and is brought lower. ryraTiTKRATT, as.
