H., on the Mountam, so residence, which occupies one of the most desirablesites on the east side of the river, is represented by thecut on the following page. The frame of this house is, supposed to be the oldest on the east side of the river, ithaving been first erected by Capt. Ebenezer Eastman, ashort time before his death, in 1748. Mr. Hoit purchasedthe house and adjacent farm, of about two hundred acres,, in April, 1819.* *For a further account of this house, see Boutons Hist.
