Nymphaea. Tender Varieties. These can be wintered in a cellar, if kept in water at a temperature of not less than 55 degress. Nymplia?a Dentata. A white floweriug species, with petals expanding horizontally, making them star-shaped. They have an agreeable perfume, but not as strong as our native Lilly: the leaves are dark green, with serrated edges. First size, $ each ; second size, § each. JJyniphsea Coerulea, (Scutifolia.) Thisspecies is a native of Egypt. It has bright green leaves and lavender blue flowers, about 4 inches in diame- ter; they are very fragrant, the perfume being entirely distinct from N. Odorata. It is very easily cultivated in a tub or tank, or it may be planted in a pond where the water is still and warm and the mud is rich. § each. Xyinphsea Devoniensis. This is the choicest Water Lily in cultivation. Under liberal treat- ment it produces flowers 10 to 12 inches in diame- ter, and leaves 2 feet across, the plant having a spread of 20 feet. If confined iu pans, tubs or boxes, the flowers are smaller, but otherwise just as fine ; the color is a brilliant red, glowing by lamp-light with indescribable brightness. $ each. Xyniplisea Rubra. This species is a native of India, with flowers of a brilliant rosy red, stamens scarlet. The flowers ore somewhat smaller than N. Devoniensis, measure from 6 to 8 inches, and are a trifle more cup-shaped. The leaves are of a rich brown, and when they fade, turn to a gold and crimson color, like autumn
