'Diogenes', after 1527. Diogenes (c400-323 BC) was an Ancient Greek philosopher who was one of the founders of the philosophy of Cynicism. Ugo da Carpi was the first Italian artist to utilise the chiaroscuro technique of woodcut printmaking. Found in the collection of the State Hermitage, St Petersburg.
