Part of the Alaskan coast seen from space. This north-looking view shows the north-west coast of Alaska, on the edge of the Bering Sea. The land is covered in a thick carpet of snow, although much of the winter pack-ice has started to break up (left). This photograph was taken from Shuttle Atlantis during Mission STS-45 of 24 March to 2 April 1992.
