Fourth Annual World Quidditch Cup in New York
University of Rochester team versus the Ives Pond team from Buffalo, NY in the Fourth Annual World Quidditch Cup in New York on Sunday, November 14, 2010. The two day tournament hosted 46 teams from colleges, some coming from as far away as Florida and Ohio, where they played the game on the circular playing field throwing "quaffles" at each other and trying to catch the "snitch", all the while holding broomsticks between their legs as if they were flying like the competitors in the Potter books. The game resembles a combination of dodgeball, volleyball, rugby, basketball, and many any other contact sport you can imagine. (© Richard B. Levine)
